Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat State Organization General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya has criticized the BJP’s planned celebrations around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, saying that public attention should focus on problems on the ground rather than only symbolic events.
Referring to the BJP’s appeal to people to light lamps on the occasion, Manoj Sorathiya said that lighting diyas was a matter of choice, but the government should also address what he described as the “darkness behind the lamp.”
Manoj Sorathiya Raises Expressway Concerns
The AAP leader cited the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway as an example while making his criticism. Manoj Sorathiya claimed that repair and excavation work has continued on parts of the highway, causing inconvenience to commuters and contributing to traffic congestion.

He alleged that people in Gujarat continue to face problems related to roads, schools and hospitals. He also accused the state government of allowing public money to be wasted through what he described as poor implementation and repeated repair work.
AAP has separately announced a campaign called “Diya Tale Andhera” around Prime Minister Modi’s birthday. The party says the campaign will highlight issues such as damaged roads, schools and hospitals in Gujarat.

Manoj Sorathiya further alleged that if a recently constructed road requires extensive repair work, questions should be raised about construction quality and the use of public funds.
