Punjab achieved record GST collection of ₹94,000 crore in 4 years under AAP government, says Harpal Singh Cheema, highlighting strong revenue growth.
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has claimed that the state has achieved a record-breaking growth in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, marking a significant milestone in fiscal performance.
Addressing the media, Cheema stated that Punjab has collected nearly ₹94,000 crore in GST revenue in the last four years, which is significantly higher than the previous Congress government’s five-year total collection of around ₹64,000 crore.
Strong Growth in State Revenue
The Finance Minister highlighted that the state’s tax revenue has been increasing by more than ₹10,000 crore annually, reflecting improved financial management and transparency in governance. For the current financial year, the government has set a GST collection target of ₹32,000 crore.

He said that these figures demonstrate growing public trust in an honest and transparent tax system, where every rupee collected is being used for public welfare and development projects.
Focus on Transparent Governance
Cheema emphasized that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed all departments to ensure complete transparency in the utilization of state funds. The government, he added, is committed to ensuring that public money is spent effectively on development works.
Major Development Push Across Punjab
With improved financial health, the state government has accelerated several infrastructure and development initiatives, including:
Repair and construction of 45,000 kilometres of roads across Punjab
Modernization of government schools with smart classrooms, labs, and libraries
Development of more than 3,000 village playgrounds, with 6,000 more under construction
These projects, according to the minister, are directly benefiting rural and urban communities across the state.
Fulfillment of Election Promises
The Finance Minister also claimed that the AAP government has fulfilled all five major election guarantees ahead of schedule. He highlighted the implementation of the “Mawan-Dhiyan Satkar Yojana”, under which financial assistance has already been disbursed to eligible women beneficiaries.
Commitment to Development
Concluding his statement, Cheema thanked AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for their leadership, stating that the government remains focused on transparent governance, fiscal discipline, and people-centric development across Punjab.
