When Zakir Khan Didn’t Recognize BTS: “I Thought They Were Security!”

Zakir Khan Mistook K-Pop Giants BTS for a Behind-the-Scenes Crew

Comedian Zakir Khan recently opened up about a funny encounter he had with global K-pop sensation BTS during a trip to South Korea. In a candid interview with The Lallantop, Zakir revealed that he spent a good 45 minutes in the same room as the members of BTS — without realizing who they were!

Zakir explained that he initially mistook the famous septet for a behind-the-scenes crew involved in filming an interview. “I know there’s a famous band called BTS, and I have this piece of information parked somewhere in my mind,” he said. “I went to Korea for an event to interview a big celebrity, and the band was also there to meet the same person. Because I was late, I was in the last batch with those members of the band.”

He added, “Cameras weren’t allowed; it was a private meeting. I thought there was a security team from Hollywood and one from Korea. The Korean producer must have thought there should be a team for BTS too. I thought it was a behind-the-scenes team. I was completely unaware of the fact that they are famous people.”

When Zakir Khan later shared the story with friends and fans, he said many were shocked and even fainted at the revelation that he had spent nearly an hour with BTS without knowing it.
