Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that only a healthy individual can contribute to building a healthy society.
Chief Minister Yogi : A strong nation and an empowered society can only be shaped through healthy citizens. If individuals are not healthy, the system itself cannot remain strong, and without a strong system, development gets obstructed. Over the past eight and a half years, the state’s health sector has made significant progress, introducing new reforms across various areas. These efforts are aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India.
The Chief Minister expressed these views while distributing appointment letters to 1,112 junior clerks and 22 X-ray technicians selected through a fair and transparent recruitment process under Mission Rozgar. Congratulating the newly recruited candidates, he said that such impartial recruitment reflects a new face of Uttar Pradesh, as seen in the health and medical education sectors. He urged the recruits to serve people with empathy and respect, without any discrimination, ensuring that the needy receive the best possible healthcare. He emphasized that if every citizen sincerely fulfills their responsibilities, India will soon emerge as a developed nation and a global power.
Highlighting the achievements under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the Chief Minister noted that significant progress has been made in healthcare, education, agriculture, water resources, employment, skill development, and emerging technologies. Uttar Pradesh has embraced these development goals and, as a result, more than 8.5 lakh youth have been appointed in various government departments through transparent recruitments in the past eight and a half years. Recruitment is now completed within fixed timelines. This includes the successful hiring of 2.19 lakh police personnel, with 60,244 new recruits currently undergoing training at state centers. Recently, the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) was also conducted smoothly, providing candidates the opportunity to qualify for various state-level government jobs.
In the health sector, recruitments have included 1,354 staff nurses, 7,182 ANMs, 1,102 specialist doctors, 278 associate professors in medical education, and 2,142 staff nurses for medical institutes, all of whom are contributing to the state’s progress. Prior to 2017, Uttar Pradesh had only 17 medical colleges; today, the number has grown to over 80. This expansion has created employment for youth and improved healthcare access locally. The “One District, One Medical College” initiative has become a hallmark of the state.
Over 80 lakh people in Uttar Pradesh are now benefiting from Ayushman Bharat cards. For this, the state government, in partnership with the Centre, has spent nearly ₹3,000 crore to ensure better medical services for the poor. Recently, the state also announced cashless treatment facilities for teachers. Blood banks, ICUs, mini-ICUs, digital X-rays, blood separators, and dialysis facilities are being made available in every district. Technicians and junior clerks play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations of healthcare institutions—whether by moving patient files promptly or maintaining X-ray machines.
Medical education capacity has also seen major growth: MBBS seats have increased from 5,390 in 2017 to 11,850 today, postgraduate seats from 1,344 to 4,028, and super-specialty seats from 120 to 305. Since April 2017, 1,284 medical teachers have been appointed in government institutions. The number of DNB seats has doubled in the past year. The Uttar Pradesh Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (UPMSCL) has also expanded rapidly—its annual turnover grew from ₹83 crore in 2017-18 to ₹1,390 crore in 2024-25. Earlier, hospitals were crowded with cases of encephalitis, malaria, dengue, kala-azar, and chikungunya during this season. Today, these diseases are largely under control, proving that timely government action yields quick results.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that improved law and order has allowed people to celebrate festivals with enthusiasm, strengthening harmony and national unity. This environment of peace is also driving development. By the end of the current financial year, Uttar Pradesh’s economy is expected to reach ₹35 lakh crore. He attributed this success to the government’s commitment to transparent recruitments and providing local employment opportunities to the state’s youth.
During the program, a short film on Mission Rozgar was screened. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also addressed the gathering. The event was attended by Minister of State for Medical Education and Health Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, MLAs Dr. Neeraj Bora and Jayadevi, Legislative Council member Mukesh Sharma, Umesh Dwivedi, Principal Secretary (Medical Education and Health) Parthasarthi Sen Sharma, and other dignitaries.
