Multiple Pakistani drone incursions reported near LoC in J&K. Indian Army fires at drones in Nowshera, Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch sectors; security tightened.

 The Indian Army intercepted multiple Pakistani drone intrusion attempts near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials confirmed. The sightings, which occurred in Nowshera, Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch sectors, highlight ongoing cross-border security threats.

According to sources, the Indian Army fired at a Pakistani drone in the Nowshera sector this evening. Several other drones were spotted across different sectors, with one drone hovering over Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector of Samba around 7:15 pm. Another drone was sighted moving from Tain to Topa in Mankote sector, Poonch district, at 6:25 pm. In Rajouri district, a drone-like object with blinking lights was seen near Dharmsal village, Kalakote, at 6:35 pm.

The army deployed machine guns to neutralize the drones and is conducting extensive searches to determine if any firearms or contraband were dropped during these incursions. This comes a day after a drone originating from Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) reportedly dropped weapons in the Samba sector.

A video shared by local sources shows tracer rounds lighting up the night sky as Indian Army forces engaged the drones, reminiscent of last year’s Operation Sindoor, during which multiple Pakistani drones were shot down. While drone sightings had significantly reduced following Operation Sindoor, today’s multiple incursions indicate renewed attempts by Pakistan to infiltrate the region.

Officials said Pakistan continues to use drones to smuggle weapons and drugs into Indian territory, often to support state-sponsored terror groups. The Indian Army has reiterated its commitment to preventing such incursions and safeguarding the border areas along the LoC.

The Ministry of Defence has urged local residents to report any suspicious aerial activity and assured that strict action will be taken against all attempts to compromise the security of Jammu and Kashmir.
