Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off a special train from Kurukshetra for devotees travelling to the Somnath temple, under the state’s “Chief Minister Pilgrimage Scheme”.

The initiative aims to ensure that no devotee is deprived of a pilgrimage due to financial constraints. The scheme has been designed to make religious travel more accessible and inclusive for people across the state.

Pilgrimage scheme focused on inclusive religious travel

The Chief Minister stated that the government launched the “Chief Minister Pilgrimage Scheme” with the objective of providing affordable travel options for devotees. Under this initiative, special buses and trains have already been operated to major pilgrimage sites including Ayodhya Dham, Prayagraj, and Shri Hazur Sahib in Nanded.

The government continues to expand the scheme to cover more religious destinations, ensuring wider participation from citizens.

Special train to Somnath temple

The newly flagged-off train will take devotees from Kurukshetra to the Somnath temple in Gujarat, one of the most significant pilgrimage sites dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The Chief Minister urged the pilgrims to offer prayers at the Somnath temple for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of Haryana and the entire nation.

Promoting spiritual tourism and accessibility

The initiative is part of the state’s broader effort to promote spiritual tourism while ensuring equal access to religious journeys for all sections of society.
