Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has strongly criticised former Indian cricketer and BJP leader Harbhajan Singh over a video that he claimed was being presented as footage from Punjab. Cheema alleged that the video was actually from Rajasthan and accused the BJP of using it to create a negative image of Punjab.
According to Harpal Singh Cheema, the Aam Aadmi Party had sent Harbhajan Singh to the Rajya Sabha with the expectation that he would motivate the youth of Punjab to take up sports and build successful careers in athletics.
Harpal Singh Cheema Questions Harbhajan Singh’s Role in Rajya Sabha
Cheema claimed that Harbhajan Singh did not raise issues concerning Punjab’s youth in Parliament during his association with the Aam Aadmi Party. He alleged that after joining the BJP, the former cricketer was now supporting what he described as the party’s misleading narrative about Punjab.
The Punjab minister further alleged that a video from Rajasthan was being circulated as if it showed a situation in Punjab. He said such attempts could damage the state’s reputation and accused the BJP of using the issue for political purposes.
Harpal Singh Cheema Accuses BJP of Linking Other States’ Videos to Punjab
Harpal Singh Cheema also alleged that videos from other states were being connected with Punjab to portray the state in a negative manner. He questioned the political motive behind such claims and said Punjab should not be targeted through misleading social media content.
Cheema maintained that the actual situation in Punjab should be assessed on the basis of facts and government action rather than videos allegedly taken from other states.

‘Gujarat Is Turning the Country Into a Drug Market’: Cheema
In another sharp attack, Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that Gujarat was becoming a major drug market for the country. He also targeted the previous BJP-Shiromani Akali Dal government in Punjab, claiming that the state witnessed the entry of a significant quantity of drugs during that period.
The minister said the BJP should focus on the drug-related situation in other parts of the country instead of repeatedly targeting Punjab over the issue.
Mann Government’s War Against Drugs Campaign Highlighted
Cheema also highlighted the Bhagwant Mann government’s War Against Drugs campaign. He claimed that the state government has taken strong action against drug trafficking and has intensified its efforts to curb the drug menace in Punjab.
According to the minister, the campaign is aimed at breaking the network involved in drug trafficking while creating a safer environment for Punjab’s youth.
