Punjab OBC Scholarship: The Punjab Government has earmarked a total of ₹15.72 crore for scholarships benefiting 39,320 students from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community. ₹5.72 Crore Released to 14,320 Students
Under the Punjab OBC Scholarship initiative, ₹5.72 crore was released during the financial year 2025-26 under the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for OBC students. The minister said supporting children from economically disadvantaged families remains an important priority of the state government. Scholarships can provide crucial assistance to students who may otherwise face difficulties in meeting the costs associated with their education.

Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Punjab OBC Scholarship reflects the government’s focus on improving access to education for students who require financial support. She emphasised that educational opportunities should not be restricted because of a family’s financial circumstances.
Education as a Tool for Empowerment
Dr. Baljit Kaur described education as an important means of social empowerment and transformation. She said providing equal opportunities to children can strengthen families and contribute to the wider development of society and Punjab.
The minister added that the Bhagwant Mann-led government is pursuing people-oriented policies for the welfare of different sections of society. According to her, supporting children’s education can help create better opportunities for the next generation.

The minister said investment in education can help build a more equal and progressive Punjab, where children have opportunities to develop their abilities and work towards their future goals.
