Atishi will start a hunger strike at midday to protest the water issue in Delhi.

The minister said in a post on X that the Haryana government was not releasing Delhi’s full share of water despite their best efforts.

On Friday afternoon, minister Atishi of Delhi will start her indefinite fast in protest of the ongoing water crisis in the nation’s capital.

“The Haryana government is not giving Delhi enough water, despite their best efforts. Mahatma Gandhi preached that following the path of Satyagraha is the only way to combat injustice. Today, I shall begin the “Water Satyagraha.” At eleven in the morning, I’m going to Rajghat to honor Gandhiji. At 12 noon, I shall begin an indefinite fast at Bhogal, Jangpura. Atishi posted on X (previously Twitter): “I will not stop fasting until the people of Delhi receive their fair share of water from Haryana.”

Ministers for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and other MLAs had convened at the home of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, from whence they planned to travel to Raj Ghat.

Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Chief Minister Kejriwal, will also go to Raj Ghat with the AAP leaders.

According to an AAP official informed of the developments, the AAP leaders would travel from Raj Ghat to Jangpura, where Atishi will start her fast.

AAP leaders, meanwhile, want to travel to Tihar Jail this evening in anticipation of Kejriwal’s release, which is pending a hearing at the Delhi High Court on Friday.

Kejriwal was granted regular bail by a Delhi court on Thursday in connection with the money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy, which was filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Vacation judge Niyay Bindu declared, “The accused is admitted to bail in the sum of ₹1 lakh,” at the conclusion of the case.

The judge further stated that Friday morning will see the issuance of the comprehensive order.

But the ED has petitioned the Delhi High Court to contest Kejriwal’s regular bail in the excise policy case.
