Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann slams Amit Shah for ignoring key issues during his Punjab visit, raising concerns over MSP, withheld funds, flood relief, drug trafficking and farmer welfare.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a sharp attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of ignoring Punjab’s major concerns during his recent visit to the state. According to the Chief Minister, people expected concrete announcements regarding Minimum Support Price (MSP), farm loan waivers and a special economic package, but the visit concluded without any substantial commitments.
During an interaction with the media on the sidelines of the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit, Bhagwant Mann Slams Amit Shah for allegedly focusing on political criticism rather than addressing pressing issues faced by the people of Punjab.
Punjab Expected Announcements on MSP and Loan Waiver
Speaking to reporters, Mann said that farmers and citizens were hoping the Union Home Minister would make major announcements during his visit. Instead, he claimed, the address lacked any concrete policy decisions.
“People expected clarity on MSP guarantees, loan waivers for farmers and a special financial package for Punjab, but nothing of that sort was announced,” Mann said. His remarks underline why Bhagwant Mann Slams Amit Shah has become a key political talking point following the visit.
Centre Accused of Withholding Punjab’s Funds
The Chief Minister also accused the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of withholding Punjab’s legitimate financial resources.
Mann alleged that the Centre has not released the state’s Rural Development Fund (RDF) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) compensation. Additionally, he pointed out that the ₹1,600 crore flood relief package announced earlier has still not reached the state government.
According to Mann, these financial delays have adversely affected development projects in Punjab. He said such actions demonstrate why Bhagwant Mann Slams Amit Shah and the Centre for allegedly discriminating against the state.
Concerns Over Gangsterism and Lawrence Bishnoi Case
Another issue raised by the Chief Minister was gangsterism. Mann claimed that the central government has not effectively addressed the issue at a national level.
Referring to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Mann alleged that the criminal has been kept in a jail in Gujarat and is not being allowed to be brought to Punjab for investigation. He described gangsterism as a national security concern that requires coordinated action by both state and central agencies.
Drug Trafficking and Border Security
Drug trafficking remains a serious concern for Punjab, and Mann said the responsibility of stopping cross-border smuggling largely lies with the central government.
Despite this, he noted that the Punjab government has installed anti-drone systems along nearly 550 kilometers of the international border using its own funds to prevent narcotics from entering the state.
Highlighting the issue further, Mann said large quantities of narcotics have been seized at ports in Gujarat, including a major seizure at Mundra Port. However, he questioned why strong action had not been taken in those cases. This is another reason why Bhagwant Mann Slams Amit Shah over the Centre’s approach to drug trafficking.

Criticism of BJP’s Political Strategy in Punjab
The Chief Minister also took a dig at the political ambitions of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state. According to him, the party lacks the organisational strength required to contest all assembly seats independently.
He questioned how the BJP plans to field candidates in all 117 assembly constituencies in Punjab. Mann also accused the party of relying on divisive politics, stating that such strategies would not succeed in the state’s political environment.
Mann added that Punjab’s social fabric has always promoted unity and harmony, and therefore politics based on religion or hatred would not gain acceptance among the people.
Progressive Punjab Investors Summit Receives Strong Response
Amid the political criticism, Mann also highlighted the economic initiatives of the Punjab government. He said the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit has attracted significant interest from industrial leaders and investors.
According to the Chief Minister, the summit has created opportunities for businesses to explore investment prospects and partnerships within the state. Investors participating in the event are actively discussing potential collaborations and new ventures in Punjab.
Punjab Government Focused on Development and Jobs
The Chief Minister emphasized that despite challenges, the Punjab government continues to focus on employment and economic development. He said the state government has already provided more than 65,000 government jobs to young people.
Mann also criticised the BJP’s national promises, claiming that the pledge to generate two crore jobs annually has not been fulfilled.
Punjab Deserves Fair Treatment
Concluding his remarks, Mann reiterated that Punjab deserves equal treatment and timely release of its funds. He argued that the Centre should work cooperatively with the state rather than engaging in political disputes.
For this reason, Bhagwant Mann Slams Amit Shah and the central government, urging them to address issues such as financial allocations, farmer welfare, and drug trafficking with seriousness.
According to the Chief Minister, the people of Punjab are aware of these issues and expect practical solutions rather than political accusations.
