Delhi women will need a Pink Saheli Smart Card for free DTC and cluster bus travel from September 1, 2026, as the pink ticket system ends.
Women travelling free on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses will need to switch to the Pink Saheli Smart Card from September 1, 2026. The existing pink ticket system will remain available only until August 31.
According to the latest DTC operational order, August 31 is the final day for eligible women to use pink tickets for free travel on DTC and DIMTS-operated cluster buses. From September 1, passengers will have to tap the Pink Saheli Smart Card while boarding the bus to avail themselves of the free travel facility.
Smart Card Required for Free Bus Travel
The new system will make the Pink Saheli Smart Card compulsory for women seeking free bus travel. Those without a valid card will not be eligible for the free journey and will have to pay the applicable fare like other passengers.

The change comes after the pink ticket arrangement was extended twice to provide women additional time to shift to the smart card-based system.
Women Urged to Get Cards Before September 1
DTC has advised eligible women who have not yet obtained their cards to collect the Pink Saheli Smart Card from designated distribution centres before the existing ticket facility ends.
Once the new system comes into effect, women will need to tap their card during the journey to continue receiving free bus travel benefits.
The Pink Saheli Smart Card is therefore set to become an essential requirement for women using the free travel scheme from September 1. No pink tickets will be issued under the new arrangement.
Women who want to continue using the free bus travel facility should ensure they have a valid Pink Saheli Smart Card before travelling from September 1, 2026.
