Education Minister Madan Dilawar said in the Assembly on Friday that many students were deprived of science education due to non-availability of science subjects in schools opened during the tenure of the previous government. To improve this situation, the present government will take a decision to start science faculty in government higher secondary schools based on the quality of schools and the required standards.
Education Minister Madan Dilawar was replying to supplementary questions on the subject during Question Hour. He also pointed out that no concrete steps were taken for the promotion of departmental officers and employees during the previous government. After the present government took charge, the DPC for the year 2021-22 and 2022-23 for the post of School Lecturer was held in December 2024 at the departmental level, in which a total of 10,515 lecturers were selected, out of which 1,923 are from the science stream. The process of online counseling for the posting of these selected teachers is underway, while the personnel available after the DPC of 2023-24 and 2024-25 will be appointed as per the rules.
Earlier, in a written reply to the original question of MLA Lalit Meena, Education Minister Madan Dilawar clarified that on promotion in government higher secondary schools, faculty is started as per the recommendation of the School Development and Management Committee (SDMC) and the proposal received from the Directorate of Secondary Education, Bikaner, based on the interest of the students. He also informed that after the establishment of the first faculty, additional faculty is sanctioned as per the budget provision and enrolment of students studying in class 10.
Status of Science and Commerce Faculty in Gram Panchayats
Education Minister Madan Dilawar informed that all the government higher secondary schools located in 11,304 gram panchayats of the state do not have science and commerce faculties. In rural areas, 2,394 private higher secondary schools have science faculty and 1,189 private schools have commerce faculty. He presented district-wise details of schools running science and commerce faculties in rural areas of the state. Apart from this, he also placed on the table the session wise and district wise details of new science and commerce faculty sanctioned in rural area in the last five years.
Education Minister Madan Dilawar further informed that the advertisement was issued for 6,000 posts under the Professor Competitive Examination 2022 by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Ajmer, to fill up the vacant posts of lecturers in the state-run schools, both in rural and urban areas. Out of these, orders have been issued for appointment of 5,583 faculty members, including 419 faculty members of Science and 130 faculty members of Commerce. In addition, out of 2,202 posts advertised under the Professor Competitive Examination 2024, the process of recruitment is underway for 403 posts of Science and 340 posts of Commerce.
