Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced three world-class exhibition centres in Ludhiana, New Chandigarh and Amritsar to boost industry, exports and trade during the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced that the state government will establish three Punjab world-class exhibition centres in Ludhiana, New Chandigarh (Mohali), and Amritsar to significantly strengthen industrial growth and commercial activity in the state.
Speaking during various sessions at the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit, the Chief Minister said the Punjab world-class exhibition centres will provide a dedicated platform for industries to display their products, attract buyers and investors, and create new business opportunities.
Exhibition Centres to Strengthen Industrial Ecosystem
Addressing leading industrialists and investors, Mann highlighted that Punjab currently lacks large exhibition infrastructure where industries can showcase their innovations and products. To bridge this gap, the government has decided to develop Punjab world-class exhibition centres similar to the facilities at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
He stated that the new centres will help businesses organize international trade fairs, exhibitions, and investment events, ultimately boosting exports and strengthening Punjab’s economic landscape.
Progressive Punjab Summit Becoming Key Investor Platform
The Chief Minister said the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit has evolved into a strong platform for investors to exchange ideas and explore new opportunities. According to him, the summit has encouraged meaningful discussions on industrial expansion, exports, and economic reforms.
Mann noted that such initiatives will further strengthen the state’s investment climate and attract domestic as well as global companies to Punjab.
Focus on Value-Added Agriculture and Food Processing
Highlighting the state’s agricultural strength, the Chief Minister said Punjab must transition from traditional crop exports to value-added agricultural products. He emphasized that food processing can play a crucial role in increasing farmers’ income.
Punjab produces nearly 185 lakh metric tonnes of rice and 125 lakh metric tonnes of wheat annually, which has earned the state the title of India’s food bowl. However, Mann stressed that the next stage of growth lies in converting farm produce into branded and processed food products.
He pointed out that districts like Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Jalandhar already produce high-quality fruits and vegetables such as litchis, mangoes, and potatoes, which offer immense potential for food processing industries.

Diversification of Agriculture Key to Farmers’ Prosperity
The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of diversifying agriculture beyond the wheat-paddy cycle. He said farmers are willing to shift to alternative crops if they receive income comparable to paddy.
Food processing industries, he added, can create stable demand for crops like maize and vegetables, ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.
Punjab Preparing Economy for Next 50 Years
Mann stated that the government is working with a long-term vision to prepare Punjab’s economy for the next five decades. The development of Punjab world-class exhibition centres is part of this strategy to strengthen exports, manufacturing, and investment.
He urged investors to compare Punjab with any other state in India, claiming the state offers one of the most favorable environments for industrial growth.
Industrial Policy and Investment Support
The Chief Minister also highlighted the recently introduced Industrial & Business Development Policy 2026, describing it as one of the most progressive industrial policies in the country.
Through Invest Punjab, the government provides a one-stop facilitation system that assists investors from project approvals to implementation.
Punjab already exports goods worth over USD 7 billion annually and has more than 14 lakh MSMEs, making it one of India’s strongest industrial ecosystems.
Renewable Energy and Bioenergy Opportunities
Mann also spoke about Punjab’s push toward clean energy. The state produces nearly 20 million tonnes of paddy straw every year, which can be utilized for biomass power, compressed biogas, and waste-to-energy projects.
He said these initiatives will help tackle stubble burning, generate additional rural income, and support a cleaner industrial economy.
Vision for Export-Driven Growth
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said the government aims to transform Punjab into a major export hub of North India by strengthening manufacturing, logistics, and global trade connections.
The upcoming Punjab world-class exhibition centres will play a key role in showcasing Punjab’s industrial capabilities to the world and attracting large-scale investments in the coming years.
Cabinet Ministers Sanjeev Arora and Gurmeet Singh Khudian along with several industry leaders were also present during the summit.
