RAJASTHAN Secretary T. Ravikant: Increase crude oil production by using latest technology.
- Inspection of oil wells including various units of MPT – MPT is the main processing unit of the country, crude oil is processed and sent to refineries – BLMC should use zero loss technology, follow mining safety standards.
RAJASTHAN Secretary T. Ravikant on Friday visited Mangala Processing Terminal of Vedanta Cairn in Barmer district and Jalipa Mining area of Barmer Lignite Mining Company, a joint venture of the state government, and gave necessary guidelines. Mines Secretary Shri T. Ravikant while enunciating the need to increase the production of crude oil in Mangala area said that Vedanta Cairn will have to focus on maximum production using the latest technology ASP to increase the production of oil.He said that the country will have to increase oil production by using the latest technology of crude oil exploitation coming in the world.
Principal Secretary Mines and Petroleum Shri T. Ravikant visited various units of Mangala Processing Terminal along with Additional Director Petroleum Shri Ajay Sharma and officials of Vedanta Cairn on Friday.Along with this, he also inspected the oil wells in Mangala area and got information about the entire process from production to processing.
Shri Ravikant said that this area is one of the important oil producing areas of the country. The crude oil processed from here is sent to many refineries of the country. Earlier, he visited Jalipa Mines of BLMC, a joint venture of the state government, and got detailed information from mining of lignite to power generation in JSW. He said that lignite should be exploited using zero loss technology and strict adherence to mining safety standards should be ensured.
CBrigadier BS Shekhawat, Vice President of Vedanta Cairn at Mangala Processing Terminal, gave detailed information about the units of MPT, their functioning and production etcHe said that Mangla Processing Terminal has a processing capacity of 2.5 lakh barrels per day. Here the crude oil produced at Mangala, Bhagyam, Aishwarya and other places is processed and after processing is sent through pipeline to refineries like Viramgam, Jamnagar etc.

Earlier on Thursday, the Principal Secretary visited HPCL Rajasthan Refinery and took information about the progress and gave necessary directions to the refinery officials.
During this, Additional Director Petroleum Mr. Ajay Sharma, Mining Engineer Barmer Mr. Ved Prakash remained with him and informed about the departmental information. During the visit to Jalipa Lignite Mines, senior officials of BLMC and Mangla Processing Terminal participated.
