Citadel Season 2 Has Been Delayed & Varun Dhawan’s Honey Bunny Spin-off Is on Pause
Priyanka Chopra’s Citadel Season 2, which fans were eagerly looking forward to, has been delayed. Initially scheduled for release in Fall 2025, the second season of the American series will now arrive in Spring 2026. Along with this news, there’s an update regarding the Indian spinoff, Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The show’s future is now uncertain as reports suggest that its production has been put on hold.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon MGM, the production company behind Citadel, is not happy with the progress of the second season, which has led to the decision to push back the release. As of now, neither Amazon MGM nor the Russo Brothers’ AGBO have made any official comments on this.
What About Citadel: Honey Bunny?
In addition to the main Citadel series, two spinoffs were launched: Citadel: Diana, set in Italy, starring Matilda De Angelis, and Citadel: Honey Bunny, set in India, with Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Citadel: Honey Bunny premiered on Amazon Prime Video in November 2024, but now, reports indicate that its continuation has been delayed, possibly until after the release of Citadel Season 2, if not longer.

Directed by Raj & DK, Citadel: Honey Bunny also features actors like Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Saqib Saleem, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, and Shivankit Parihar. While the show had its share of action and drama, the future of its story is now uncertain as it waits for the fate of the main series.
Citadel Season 2: Priyanka Chopra Shares Her Thoughts
Priyanka Chopra had previously shared a wrap-up post on social media after finishing her work for Citadel Season 2. In a heartfelt message, she expressed how challenging yet rewarding the experience had been. “I wrapped Citadel season 2!! This year has been a whirlwind for me, but to be surrounded by so much love and support makes everything easier,” she wrote, thanking her cast and crew for their hard work.
Fans were looking forward to the continuation of the action-packed saga, and Priyanka’s role, along with her co-star Richard Madden, had kept viewers hooked. But with Season 2 delayed and spinoff plans uncertain, it leaves fans wondering about the future of the Citadel universe.
It’s unclear what the next steps will be for Citadel and its spinoffs. While the delay may be frustrating for fans, it seems Amazon is taking the time to ensure the second season meets expectations. As for the Indian spinoff, Citadel: Honey Bunny, there’s still a chance it might be reworked or delayed, depending on how Citadel Season 2 performs when it finally hits screens in Spring 2026.
