AAP Gujarat demands ₹1 crore compensation for flood victims’ families and urgent relief measures after heavy rains caused widespread destruction across the state.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has urged the Gujarat Government to announce immediate relief for people affected by the recent floods and heavy rainfall across the state. AAP Gujarat President Isudan Gadhvi has written to the Chief Minister, demanding comprehensive assistance for victims and accountability for what he described as failures in pre-monsoon preparedness.
AAP Seeks ₹1 Crore Compensation for Families of the Deceased
In his letter, Isudan Gadhvi called on the state government to provide ₹1 crore as compensation to the family of every person who lost their life in the floods. According to media reports, more than 56 people have died while several others remain missing after heavy rains triggered widespread flooding in multiple districts.
He said that supporting the affected families should be the government’s top priority during this humanitarian crisis.
Massive Damage Across Gujarat
AAP stated that continuous heavy rainfall has disrupted normal life across Gujarat, with districts from South Gujarat to Ahmedabad witnessing severe flooding. Thousands of families have reportedly been displaced, while agricultural fields, shops, factories, homes, and public infrastructure have suffered extensive damage.
The party also claimed that many businesses and industries have incurred significant financial losses due to waterlogging.

Questions Raised Over Pre-Monsoon Preparations
Gadhvi criticised the government’s annual claims regarding pre-monsoon preparations, arguing that several cities were submerged after only a few hours of heavy rain. He alleged that roads were washed away and drainage systems failed completely, indicating poor planning and implementation.
He further claimed that shortcomings in town planning (TP) schemes and encroachments on natural water channels in cities such as Ahmedabad and Surat contributed to the flooding.
AAP demanded that responsibility be fixed and strict action be taken against officials found guilty of negligence or corruption.
Six Key Demands Submitted to the Government
The party has presented six major demands to the Gujarat Government:
Provide ₹1 crore compensation to the families of those who lost their lives.
Conduct immediate damage assessments and provide timely compensation to farmers, traders, industries, and factory owners.
Announce a special relief package for damage to homes, vehicles, and household belongings.
Order an independent and time-bound investigation into alleged failures in pre-monsoon preparedness.
Remove illegal obstructions from natural water channels and improve urban planning to prevent future flooding.
Restore essential public services, including healthcare, drinking water, and electricity, in flood-affected areas without delay.
Appeal for Humanitarian Response
Isudan Gadhvi urged the government to rise above political differences and focus on the welfare of people affected by the disaster. He said that Gujarat’s residents are facing extremely difficult circumstances and deserve immediate relief, transparent governance, and long-term solutions to prevent similar disasters in the future.
AAP has appealed to the state administration to act swiftly and implement these measures to support flood-hit families and rebuild public confidence.
