RAJASTHAN NEWS : In compliance with the directions of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, the ‘Give Up’ campaign is being successfully conducted in Jaipur district to motivate ineligible persons getting benefits under National Food Security Scheme to voluntarily delete their names. The highest number of 1,88,255 ineligible persons have given up in Jaipur district under the scheme.
In Jaipur district, 1,81,485 new eligible persons have been included in the food security list. District Collector Dr Jitendra Kumar Soni is himself constantly monitoring the implementation and progress of the Give Up campaign in the district. Jaipur has topped among 41 districts of the state in terms of giving up by ineligible beneficiaries under the give up campaign.
District Logistics Officer Trilokchand Meena said that on the directions of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, the campaign is being run in Jaipur from the district headquarters to the gramme panchayat level. In all public programs including night chaupals, public hearings, gramme sabhas, people’s representatives, officials, employees and other members of society are being encouraged to give up. That is why the Give Up campaign is also getting a lot of support from the general public in Jaipur district.
He said that in the regular night chaupals and public hearing programs being organised in the district, the general public is coming forward to give up if encouraged by the district administration. In the night chaupal program held in Begus village of Kalwar tehsil, on the call of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, 128 villagers gave their consent for the give up on the spot.
District Logistics Officer Trilok Chand Meena said that strict action is being taken by the office against ineligible beneficiaries of the National Food Security Scheme. As per the directions of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, notices have been issued to 986 ineligible persons of the scheme in Jaipur to voluntarily remove their names from the food security list. The Department has decided to run the Give Up Campaign till the coming 30th June, 2025.
Under the guidance of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni and under the leadership of District Logistics Officer Mr. Trilok Chand Meena, the District Logistics Office, Jaipur City and Jaipur Rural have achieved remarkable success. Shri Meena said that action will not be taken against persons who voluntarily remove their names from the Food Security List by 30th June 2025. The penalty shall be calculated at Rs. 27 per kg of foodgrains procured by the sub-category from the date of inclusion in the Food Security List till the date of deletion. As per the directions of the District Collector, lists of such personnel are being prepared and the amount of recovery of such personnel will be written to the concerned departments for deduction from the monthly salary of the personnel.
Under the Give Up campaign, families included in the exclusion category of the food security list, such as families in which any one member is a regular employee or officer in government, semi-government, autonomous institutions or receives a pension of more than Rs 1 lakh per annum or whose total income of all members is more than Rs 1 lakh per annum or is a private four-wheeler owner or income tax payer, are being motivated to apply for voluntary exclusion of their names from the food security list. It is noteworthy that thousands of families in Jaipur city have so far applied under the Give Up campaign and got their names removed from the food security list.
