AAP Isudan Gadhvi slams BJP over 700 unopposed seats in Gujarat, calling it a “murder of democracy” achieved through threats and kidnapping.
In a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State President Isudan Gadhvi has labeled the recent unopposed victories on 700 seats as a “shameful celebration of the murder of democracy.” Gadhvi alleged that these results were not a reflection of public support but a consequence of systemic coercion and misuse of power.
Isudan Gadhvi Calls Unopposed Seats a Danger to Democracy
Expressing deep concern through a video message, Isudan Gadhvi stated that celebrating the subversion of the electoral process is a disgrace to the cultured and peace-loving identity of Gujarat. He argued that the BJP’s move to secure 700 seats without a contest is an admission that the party was “not fit to fight” fairly on those seats.
“When you celebrate the fact that citizens were deprived of their right to vote, you are essentially mocking the Constitution,” said Isudan Gadhvi. He emphasized that these “unopposed” wins were achieved through a climate of fear rather than democratic consensus.

Allegations of Coercion, Kidnapping, and Misuse of Police
The AAP leader leveled serious allegations against the ruling machinery, claiming that candidates were forced to withdraw their nominations through various unethical means. Isudan Gadhvi highlighted that several audio and video clips have surfaced, showing candidates being:
Lured with greed and temptations.
Threatened with criminal cases.
Subjected to kidnapping and intimidation by the police.
“The misuse of power and the police reminds one of the eras of Ravana and Kansa,” Isudan Gadhvi remarked, adding that such tactics are a “red signal” for the future of the state.
Criticism of the Election Commission’s Silence
Isudan Gadhvi did not spare the Election Commission, accusing the body of remaining a “mute spectator” while the democratic fabric of Gujarat was being shredded. He noted that instead of ensuring fair play, the administrative machinery appeared to be acting as workers for the BJP.
Drawing a parallel to the political crisis in Bangladesh, Isudan Gadhvi warned that while the opposition might be suppressed momentarily, the public eventually delivers a resounding answer.
Public Anger and the Road Ahead
Despite the BJP portraying the 700 unopposed seats as a “historic event,” Isudan Gadhvi maintained that there is widespread resentment among the people of Gujarat. He concluded by expressing his unwavering faith in the voters, stating that the citizens of Gujarat are observant and will provide a fitting reply through their ballots in the upcoming elections.
