Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath greeted the people of the state on the 11th International Yoga Day and said that yoga is such an invaluable gift of India’s ancient sage tradition, which not only keeps the body healthy but also provides balance to the mind. He said that our sages understood the importance of Yoga thousands of years ago and believed that without a healthy body, the goals of life like Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are not possible, and this purpose is fulfilled through Yoga.
Speaking on the occasion of Yoga Day at Digvijaynath Memorial Auditorium of Shri Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister himself practiced yoga and addressed the gathering. He said that today the whole world is joining India’s Yoga tradition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which the Prime Minister himself participated in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Describing Yoga as a medium from self-well-being to public welfare, CM Yogi Adityanath said that a healthy body is the foundation of progress in every field – be it spiritual or mundane. Consciousness is developed through Yoga and Indian sages have created a rich tradition by incorporating the mysteries associated with this consciousness in the Vedas, Upanishads and other texts.
CM Yogi also pointed out that before the Indian Yoga tradition, many countries of the world used to take advantage, but tried to patent it in their name, due to which India could not get the credit of its original heritage. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that due to his efforts, the United Nations has recognised 21st June as’ International Yoga Day ‘, due to which this ancient science of India has now gained global recognition. Today, about 190 countries connect with India’s tradition through Yoga on this day every year.
CM Yogi said that Yoga Day is not only an occasion to express gratitude to the Rishi tradition, but it is also a medium to connect the coming generations with their cultural heritage. He said that through a regular and disciplined lifestyle, Yoga makes a person live long and healthy.
Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Mayor Dr. Mangalesh Shrivastava and Mahant Ravindra Das of Kalibari were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
